24 Hour Comics Day
20 October 2007

Lambiek hosted the 24 Hour Comics Day event in Amsterdam, for the third year in a row, on Saturday, the 20th of October 2007 from 11:00 AM until Sunday morning at 11:00. This 4th annual event took place in about 89 locations in 18 countries.

24 Hour Comics Day is a challenge for comic artists to write and draw 24 comic pages within 24 hours, and many local artists rose to the occasion. Lambiek provided tables, chairs, Internet, and coffee... lots of great coffee! Some of our favorite neighborhood restaurants provided delicious food for the event, and we even had a late night chair massage to keep our eyes open.

We started on Saturday at 11:00 AM, and had many visitors to browse around and support their favorite artists throughout the day. The evening settled into a nice rhythm, and a few artists breezed through many pages while others seemed to ebb and flow. Late night was the real challenge to focus, with many people to socialize with into the wee hours.

When the final pages were inked on Sunday morning, we had a nice champagne toast to a good weekend. The store was open for the whole event, and we scanned and uploaded through the night. There was a lot of yummy soup, sandwiches, curry, loaves and liberal libation. It was a wonderful gathering of comic lovers and friends. Thanks to our gracious sponsors and participants. There were a lot of wordless comics this year, and we look forward to seeing all of them. You can glimpse a taste of some of them on our site.
