Contrastes, by Luis Louro

After finishing secondary school, Luís Louro studied industrial design. Widely published since the early 1980s, he is now considered one of the most prominent Portuguese artists. Luís Louro created his first comic strip with writer António Simoes in 1980. Simoes was Louro's scenarist for over ten years. Together they produced quite a number of adventure stories, like 'Jim del Monaco' and 'Roques e Folque'. From 1993 on, Louro wrote his own stories. His first solo album, 'O Corvo' published in 1994, was soon followed by 'Alice na Cidade das Maravilhas', in which the main character Alice, a prostitute, wanders into an underwater Lisbon of her dreams in order to escape reality.
