Maratón

Born in Oviedo, the Asturian artist Manuel Adolfo García was the author of series with local humor and engagement in the Asturian press. He was the artist of series like 'Don Pelayo' in La Voz de Asturias (script by Juan José Plans), 'Rufo y Xuanón' in Asturias Semanal. In the late 1960s he formed a team with writer Francisco Alonso and worked for publishers like Bruguera and the Catalan press.

They created series like 'Pepe Murciélago' (in Din Dan), 'Maratón' (in Sacarino), 'Matraca y Ronquillo' (in JAuJA), and 'Pelayo' (in Tapón). Adolfo illustrated several comics for La Nueva España, such as 'Coses de Xuanón' (1971), 'La Familla Fariñones' (1972), 'Xuanón' (1976), 'Don Agapito' (1984), 'San Juanín de la Lumbre' (1984), 'Bordelio, Chorizo Serio' (1984) and 'Nina y Queco' (1984). In addition, he made 'Coses de la Güelina' in El Carbayín and 'Bartual, un Hortelà com cal' in Jove i Menut.
