John Ushler was an artist of adventure and western strips for Dell/Western Publishing from 1952 to 1962. He illustrated such Disney comics as 'Treasure Island', 'Davy Crockett', 'The Great Locomotive Chase', 'Elfego Baca', 'Texas John Slaughter', 'The Swamp Fox', 'Zorro' and 'Swiss Family Robinson'. In addition to his Disney comics, he did 'Little Beaver', 'Dale Evans', 'Roy Rogers', 'Rex Allen', 'Buffalo Bill jr.', 'Tarzan', 'Journey to the Center of the Earth' and 'Huckleberry Finn. |

After his work at Western, he became a staff artist at the Disney Comic Strip Department until 1972. Ushler produced such syndicated strips as the 'Disney's Treasury of Classic Tales' and 'Uncle Remus' Sunday pages, as well as the daily 'Scamp', 'Bo Bummel', 'Roy Rogers' and 'Pier 19' strips. |
