Sampei Shirato entered the world of manga in 1957. Soon after his debut, Shirato created his seventeen volume 'Ninja Bugeichô', which earned him a lot of fame. His comic series 'Sasuke' and 'Kamui Den' were highlights of Shirato's activities during the 1960s. |

His seventeenth century situated series 'Kamui Den' ran until 1971, and was adapted for a television series in 1968. In 1988, Sampei Shirato restarted the series in Big Comic. For that same magazine, he had already created the mythological comic 'Bacchos' from 1976 to 1978. |
