José Antonio Serna Ramos was born in Alicante and did several artistic studies from 1945 throughout the 1950s. He is primarily known as a painter from Valencia, who works in a cubist, abstract and surrealistic style. In order to make money, he has also illustrated comics in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.

He was active in the French comics scene in the late 1950s and early 1960s. After illustrating an album with 'Bicot' ('Perry Winkle') for Azul in 1959 (script by Maric), he drew a couple of comic books for the Société Parisienne d'Édition, such as 'Charlot' (script by Montaubert, 1963) and 'Kokaoh le Petit Indien au Far-West' (1961). Under the pseudonym Jiaser, he drew 'Cucaracho' and 'Pepe Trola' for the Spanish publisher Bruguera and 'Gulliver' for the German magazine Yps in 1975.
