Fernando Ruiz studied Fine Arts at Caldwell College in New Jersey. After graduating, he attended the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art. Ruiz graduated in 1994 and began his career as a freelance illustrator and comic book artist. Since 1994, his artwork has appeared regularly in various comic books published by Archie Comics.
He has drawn and written for the regular Archie title, as well as Archie's Weird Mysteries'. He has also worked on 'The Mighty Crusaders'. In 1995, he returned to the Joe Kubert School as an instructor.
