Vance Rodewalt was born in Edmonton in 1946. He started his comics career drawing advertising cartoons. He worked for Marvel Comics for five years and left for Europe, where he traveled. When he returned, he got a job drawing political cartoons for The Calgary Albertan, which was taken over by The Calgary Herald. Vance Rodewalt became editorial cartoonist of this newpaper, together with Tom Innes. He won the National Newspaper Award for Cartooning in 1988, and created the newspaper comic strip 'Chubb & Chauncey'.
