Bjarne Restan was an early Norwegian comics artist. He pioneered in adventure stories and political satire. For the magazine Vor Tid, he created the serial 'Per og Peik i Sukkerlandet' (1923), as well as 'Paal og Pelles Reise' (1924). From 1925 to 1927, Restan created a variety of stories for magazines like For Alle. Restan gave social comments on kapitalism and politics in his series 'Sjur Sjursen vil bli Kapitalist', that appeared in the socialist magazine Arbeidersmagasinet from 1928 (text by Otto Luhin).
