Kath O' Brien was born around 1915 in North Queensland, Australia. As a child, she travelled with her parents through the Australian outback. She studied at Brisbane Technical College and settled in Sdney in 1937. There she created the comic strip 'Wanda' for The Sunday Telegraph, about a girl in the military services. Based on the books by Ashton Woolfe, Kath O' Brien got her well-dressed heroine in all kinds of espionage adventures. She often based her stories on current newspaper articles. After the was, 'Wanda the War Girl' continued as a detective/adventure story.
