Edwin Nagels started his career relatively late: when he was 29, he published his first cartoons, using the pseudonym 'Nagel'. He immediately gained international fame, winning prizes in Belgium in 1975, 1976, and 1983, and also in Italy in 1977. But he wanted to do more than just cartoons, and after 1980, he devoted himself completely to making comics. After his debut 'De Macht der Lange Jassen', he created the comics 'De Zhoemprofeet', 'Het Epos van Jan Veys' and 'De Bende van Jan de Lichte' (with text by Louis Paul Boon).
