Robby van der Meulen has been drawing comics since age 13. At first in a self-published comic book, then in fanzine De Stripper after meeting René Leisink, Michiel van de Vijver and Rob Derks at the comics festival of Haarlem. Robby was asked by René Leisink to take over the strip 'Paul Flekx' in the free daily Metro. He accepted, but eventually introduced his own strip in the paper: 'Iwan'. He was an editor of De Stripper from 2002 to June 2004. In addition to his comics work for Metro, Van der Maulen has also done advertising art.
