At 11:40 PM I Die (House of Mystery #262, 1978)
Born in Barrio Baluarte, Gapan, Nueva Ecija, Nestor Malgapo sold comics to pay for his grade school education. After his education, he went to work in Manila as a sign painter and as a cameraman for a printing firm. He eventually made his debut as a comic artist in cooperation with the writer Tony Ma. Alcaraz scripted 'Walang Mukha', which he drew for Sinderela Komiks in 1960. He then was assigned to illustrate the comics novel 'Ikaw Pa Rin Ang Hahanapin' for PSG Publishing.
Siya Si Urbano
Mars Ravelo of Pilipino Komiks Inc. then hired him to illustrate several short stories and the graphic novel 'Kaibigan Ko'ng St. Niño'. He moved over to Ravelo's own RAR Publications later on, where he illustrated nearly all Ravelo's scripts for this firm. Malgapo worked with nearly all the big Filipino comics firms of the time, including Liwayway Publications, Graphic Arts Service and Rex Publications.
Hit Parade of Death (House of Mystery #249, 1977)
Malgapo was co-founder and president of HAND, a trade union for comic artists in the Philippines during the 1970s. Like many of his contemporaries, Malgapo went to work for DC titles like Ghosts, House of Mystery, The Unexpected and GI Combat during the 1970s.
Malgapo studied animation as well, and became layout artist for Island Animation headed by fellow illustrator Abe Ocampo. He established the Dynacoil Home Study Art School, an art correspondence school. He also took on the scriptwork of comics as well, and drew many of his own stories in Atlas and ACE Publications.
