Takehiko Inoue was born in Kagoshima in 1967. He became a mangaka and won the Tezuka Prize in 1988 for his manga 'Kaede Purple'. His breakthrough came with the basketball series 'Slam Dunk', which has sold more than 100 million volumes worldwide. One of this series' celebrity fans is North Korean president Kim Jong-Un, who is also a basketball fan in general. In his next major project, 'Vagabond', Inoue depicted the legendary swordsmen Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro. Returning to basketball, Takehiko created the series 'Real'.
