After some co-productions with Kato, Igayara soon became an all-round author, doing scenario, pencils and inking for his stories starring 'Jose Carioca' and 'Fethry Duck'. He also added his own character to the Disney universe, 'Biquinho'.
He was the editor-in-chief at Editora Abril for 25 years, and helped launch magazines like Recreio and Alegria. In 1980 he created 'Paulistinha', a promotional character for the Secretary of Finance in São Paulo. Igayara later set up his own comic art school in Brazil. He died in 2002.
