Born and raised within shouting distance of New York City, David Goldin grew up knowing he was going to be an artist. After a short career collecting eggs from chickens, Goldin moved to Greenwich Village to pursue other interests. One crazy night in Chinatown, while playing tic-tac-toe with a chicken, Goldin had a revelation: he would become an illustrator! (The chicken won.)

It wasn't long before his work appeared in magazines like Optometrist Monthly and Footwear News, which made him a shoo-in at The New Yorker, Time, Newsweek and Sports Illustrated. With the freedom of being a freelancer, Goldin was able to travel to places like India, Morocco, and Southeast Asia, where he began picking up scraps of paper and bottle caps to use in collage works. Goldin then became part of the core group of illustrators at the Illustration Gallery in New York. His collage works were exhibited in two solo shows and many group shows.

Then came the turn of the century and things were getting crazy. So, Goldin bought a house up on a mountain on a dead-end dirt road. When he's not rescuing snakes and bunnies from the claws of his cats, he's cruising the city looking for the best Thai food, scraps of paper, and bottle caps.
