Fidelma - 'Absolucion'.

José Luis Ferrér Rozalen was a Catalan comic artist, who signed with Ferrér and worked for publishers from Spain and abroad. He studied Fine Art but was basically self-taught. In the 1960s, he began his career drawing for the action comics published by Galaor and Toray. He drew for collections like 'Batallas Decisivas de la Humanidad', 'Hazañas del Oeste' and 'Hazañas Bélicas', before turning to agency work. He was affiliated with studios like Bulls Press and Union Studio (1975-1979) and worked for publishing houses in France, Britain, Germany, Sweden and the USA.

Ferrér contributed to British collections like 'Battle Picture Library' by Amalgamated Press and drew features like 'Ants', 'Robo Hunter' and 'Ro-Busters' for Starlord and 2000AD in the 1970s and 1980s. His US work includes horror stories for Skywald and Charlton titles like 'Beyond the Grave', 'Ghost Manor', 'Creepy Things', 'Monster Hunters' and 'Ghostly Haunts'. He also drew for other Charlton titles, such as 'The Phantom' and several war comics. In Germany, he was present in Bastei's horror title Gespenster Geschichten and in Bastei Fernseh-Comic, with stories starring 'The Real Ghostbusters' and 'Captain Future'.

José Ferrér is often confused with Pepe Ferré (José Ramon Ferré Elies), the artist of funny animal comics in the 1980s. Both artists did actually grow up together as neighbors in a small town near Tarragona in southern Cataluña. But they parted ways and José Ferrér left the field of comics in the early 1990s. Jose subsequently has worked with TV3 and the principal publishing houses in Spain on projects such as encyclopedias, text books and more. Later in his career, he drew the comic book 'Horrifying Hijinks at the Haunted Hotel' for Pulp Toons.

José Ferrér passed away from a brain tumor in October 2012. At that time, he was working on a graphic novel version of the historical mystery novel series 'Sister Fidelma' by British author Peter Tremayne.
