Falco worked as an illustrator for La Caricature, Le Pilori, Le Rire and Le Pêle-Mêle from 1891, before becoming one of the most prominent contributors to Les Belles Images from the magazine's first issue in April, 1904 to its final one in 1936. He made comics in all sorts of genres, but mainly historical stories set in the 18th Century. In addition to Les Belles Images, Falco, who also sometimes signed with Fal, drew for American Illustré, Les Petits Bonhommes, Diabolo Journal and Ric et Rac.
