Bixa is one of the most outstanding Portuguese female comic artists. She obtained some success with her educational and moralizing comic 'Laçarote e Pantalonas', which she made with scenarist Mitza. This realistic series, about a brother and sister in everyday situations, was designed to appeal to juvenile readers. 'Laçarote e Pantalonas' appeared in the 1950s in Fagulha. Bixa also created a similar juvenile series, called '3 de Braço Dado'. Along with scenarist Isabel Mendoça Soares, Bixa has made various comics about different cultures.
