Ferdinand Bis was active in Croatian comics from 1938 to 1943. His first work appeared in Mickey Strip, the magazine of the Neugebauer brothers. Bis made stories like 'Cetiri jahaca Apokalipse', 'Tri hajduka', 'Grbavac sa Zeljeznom maskom' and 'Flota kapetana Smrt', before he moved over to Mickey strip - Oko to make 'Flota Kapetana Mors', 'Kurir Oregona' and 'Tajna Dvorna Balmor'. He was also present in Mika Mis ('Morski vuk'), Dom i Svet and Zabavnik ('Atlantida'). The outbreak of war ended his comic activities and Bis focused on fine art and doing screenplays for films (a.o. 'Carobni zvuci', 'Put u svemir', '2+2=3' and 'Zahvalna Metla').
