Gabriel Arnao Crespo, known as Gabi Arnao, made his debut in 1943 with the comic 'El Señor Conejo', published in Maravillas. From 1943 to 1949, he made the series 'Sherlock Lopez' for Flechas y Pelayos. At the same time, he was present in the periodical Chicos with 'Jim Erizo y su Papa'.

In 1949, Crespo emigrated to France, where he started working for the S.F.P.I. From 1959 on, he worked for French magazines like Tartine et Tartinet and Dennis. For the last one, he took on 'Sherlock Lopez' again in 1968. His final series, 'Bloupy', appeared from 1983 in Amis-Coop.
