Mike Arens was a classic American Disney artist. Like many of the future comics artists, Arens started his career at Disney in the animation studios. He turned to comics in the early 1950s, doing funny animal, adventure and western strips for Dell Publishing. Under the Disney label, he did 'Davy Crockett', 'Mary Poppins', 'Chip'n'Dale', 'Donald Duck' and 'Scamp'. Other Dell titles include 'Range Rider', 'Roy Rogers', 'The Frontiersman', 'Tarzan', 'Korak' and 'My Favourite Martian'. He was the artist of the daily 'Scamp' comic from 1969 to his death in 1976. His other newspaper comic credits include 'Hey Mac' (daily, 1951-1962) and 'Roy Rogers' (Sunday page, 1957-1962). He was also an animator at Hanna-Barbera.
